| This is exactly what I feel! I drew this! |
I always end up giving up on games. I know that's a bad thing but they just get so frustrating and hard!! I usually do get back to them after a couple of weeks (sometimes months) but hey, the point is I did get back to them!! After I picked them back up, I do sometimes get past the hard part that made me quit in the first place. I think what makes me want to come back and beat the game is the sense of accomplishment you get! For all of you who've beaten a game before you know what I'm talking about. The most satisfying games to beat are definitely those that have like four discs (in the PlayStation cases at least)! It's insane when you finally beat it.
How do you feel after beating a game? Personally after it's done and beaten I don't even want to look at the case; I'm so sick of it! Then again you feel like something is missing in your life . . . I don't know why! When you get home after a long day and want to play a game you now have to start a new one! I do love the feeling of pure accomplishment when you are watching that final scene. Perhaps one day I'll stop being such a baby and will just jump up and down after killing that final ending guy! How do you react? Pure joy, complete sadness, or are you like me and just put the controller down and walk out of the room very calmly?

It doesn't have to be an adventure for it to be beatable! I bet you've beaten Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I'd like to say that I'm pretty similar in this way. I've probably beaten more games than you, but I do feel like the stack of unbeaten games I have is a lot larger than the stack of beaten ones.
I think it depends on the game. I've beaten... well, a LOT of games over the years. In fact, on my blog, I don't usually post my reviews until the game is beaten, or I am 'done' with it (which is why even though I have 100+ hours into Kingdoms of Amalur, and know 95% of what I'll write, I haven't written it yet). Of course, 'done' for me can mean a game like Risen that I just really did not like, even after spending about 20 hours on it.
ReplyDeleteHow do I feel when I beat one? Almost always - accomplished. Depending on the game though, I may be curious as well. Mass Effect and Dragon Age and Final Fantasy X are all titles I can think of where I beat them, and then immediately began to replay so I could see what I could do better or differently.
I think also my reaction depends on the type of game. Something like Amalur which has been fun, but maybe not very challenging despite its length? I'll probably sit back, watch the credits roll and grab a beer.
Something that was a tough game to beat, had my nerves on edge like Contra back in the NES days or Ninja Gaiden in more recent times? I'll probably give a whoop and shout and inevitably one of my kids will run in going? "You beat it?"
Super Mario Bros. was a toughy for me. I had been working on it for weeks and weeks, getting better each time I played, when I finally beat it. Fortunately my siblings were there to see it, so we all had a few victory shouts together, none more loud or enthusiastic as my own, of course.
DeleteContra is one of the most annoying games! It's so impossible but so fun! I don't like it when they make games that addicting but that fun! You can never beat it but you just have to keep playing!
DeleteYou're hilarious, my BFF! :)
