What kind of a Zelda fan are YOU?

There are two kinds of Zelda fans in this world. Those who prefer the top-down, 2D style as epitomized in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past; and those who prefer the 3D style as brilliantly demonstrated in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Each style is vastly different from the other, and Zelda fans tend to be split on the subject. Top-down, 2D Zeldas are characterized by grid-like maps and fairly linear gameplay. 3D Zeldas, on the other hand, are characterized by wide open spaces and gameplay that takes advantage of the full 360 degrees of motion. I think the difference is quite clear, so let's get to the real question: which kind of Zelda style do YOU prefer? Let us know in the comments!

Me? It's an easy answer for me: 3D Zelda trumps top-down Zelda any day of the week. What are you going to do about it?

But seriously...leave a comment anyway. Defend your opinion!

  1. I'm the 3rd kind of fan - undecided. :)

I haven't really played many of the Zelda games. Windwaker, and the first 2 titles on the NES. Thoroughly enjoyed all 3, but I definitely got more mileage out of the first two titles. Only recently acquired Twilight Princess and Skyward sword, so we'll see if I pick a side of the fence after those two.

    1. Yes! A potential addition to the winning side! Join us in all of our 3D glory! Stay away from the dark side!

  2. LOL @ Holly. It could happen. I'm so buried in games (no, I'm not expecting sympathy on that front) that I probably won't be finishing Skyward Sword for awhile. Amusingly, I'm one of the few people who liked Adventures of Link more than the original. Considering that action was actually from the side but in 2D, would that create a 3rd spot firmly where the fence was built? :)
